A writer of headlines, journalist, and part-time poet.

Earning a B.A in Journalism with a concentration in both Broadcast and Political Science, I’ve had the amazing experience of discovering my hatred for politics can become a solid career one day. No one really loves how dirty politics can be, but someone has to decode the glamour for what it really is. It’s the social issues that really heats my engine. Education, Women’s Rights, Environmental Issues, Rights for People of Color, Poverty, LGBT Rights, International Relations, are just some of the many causes I’m passionate about.

Besides politics and social policies, I love discussing topics all young people love: music, films, TV shows, books, and much more. If you can talk about the Foo Fighters or Arrested Development we probably can be great friends.

Take all my love for all the things I’ve mentioned above, I’m trying to find my footing in the world of all things media. I’m an writer, editor, photographer, video editor, a camera woman, a savvy social media user, a novice graphic designer, a decent anchor, and a full-time reporter.

Goals? I  to write and create my own videos and content. We’re the generation of internet savvy and social media titans. As much as the internet is great for kittens and porn, we can use it to have solid discussions on a range of topics. I hope you guys dig what I’m doing and will join me on this journey.

Check out my blog here.

This is a collection of all the work I’ve done for the many publications I’ve helped write, produce, and shoot for in the last four years. It will also include samples of production work I’ve done.

Summer of 2013 I interned for Illa Films and worked on their documentary Time is Illmatic, which is about the artist, Nas, and his influence in hip-hop. It also served as a platform to talk about issues such as poverty, racism, and education. I provided assistance for post-production work, mostly transcribing and coding videos

From 2013-2014 I worked for Leadership for Educational Equity (LEE) as their Assistant, Digital Engagement. I started off as their Communications Intern, managing their social media presence, compiling research for the organization, working on the layout and design of the site, and writing/editing their blog posts, and any existing content.

Currently I’m a Headline Writer for Social Media at Al Jazeera America. My position includes curating headlines for social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google +, Tumblr, and Instagram. There’s also producing, researching, and commissioning social friendly content to go along with curated posts. A major aspect of my job is to monitor our social pages and other news outlets social pages for breaking, trending, and interesting stories.

I’m also a contributor from Bitchtopia Magazine where I write articles with a feminist lens.

I reside in Brooklyn in a too small apartment off the L train.
